Forensic Engineering

JTS’ Forensic Engineers investigate causes and extent of building failures. Our team inspects building for sources of water intrusion, foundation or structural settlement, or generally determine the failure of a building to meet its design intent. Our staff have conducted structural reviews of earthquake-impacted buildings in 2011, wall cracks in residential and commercial structures, and contact damaged structures from fallen trees and storms. JTS has been frequently called in to determine the source of water damage to a structure. During building envelope investigations, we examine roofs, the building façade, and site drainage. We have performed non-destructive and destructive examinations during our water intrusion investigations having tested drainpipes, flashings, and facades. We have conducted forensic investigations on behalf of insurance companies, attorneys, property managers, and building owners. Our reports have been utilized in cost recovery litigation.
